‘The Waterboy’

With the 2023 NFL Draft mere days away, it’s time to pay tribute to the greatest NFL prospect of all-time: Bobby Boucher, linebacker of the South-Central Louisiana State University Mud Dogs. Sure, Bobby’s diet consists mainly of fried gator and H2O, and sure, as a 31-year-old, he’d be older on his first day than 90% of the other foosball players in the league, but the combination of his pure ferocity, visualization abilities, and advanced hydration techniques would make him an ideal contributor from the jump. (Team doctors might want to ensure there’s nothing wrong with his medulla oblongata, though.) I’m not totally sure where Boucher fits on Mel Kiper’s big board, but any team with Super Bowl intentions really ought to consider making an investment in the best talent to emerge from the Bayou State since “The Grey Ghost” himself, Gavin Grey.

‘Fatal Attraction’

Before Lizzy Caplan and Joshua Jackson put their own spin on Fatal Attraction, the original 1987 thriller is practically required viewing. Glenn Close and Michael Douglas star as Alex Forrest and Dan Gallagher, respectfully. After a heated weekend affair, Dan returns to his life as a married man, but the single Alex is less content to leave their... Read more

‘Josie and the Pussycats’

A Tourist's Guide To Love, which hit Netflix last week, is a Josie and the Pussycats reunion — Rachael Leigh Cook and Missi Pyle share the screen for the first time since the 2001 movie — and with all the talk about it, of course I had to revisit the cult classic. Based on the Archie Comics series (and not unlike Riverdale), the movie follows ... Read more

‘The Long Goodbye’

For my money, Robert Altman's The Long Goodbye is one of the best noir films ever made. Based on Raymond Chandler's novel of the same name, the cult favorite follows Philip Marlowe (Elliott Gould), an idiosyncratic private eye who investigates the murder of his friend's wife — and later the suspicious death of said friend. The distinct style,... Read more

‘The Nice Guys’

Everyone who doubted Ryan Gosling's ability to play Ken in Greta Gerwig's upcoming epic Barbie obviously did not watch his comedic turn in The Nice Guys. Gosling and Russell Crowe star as Holland March and Jackson Healy, two screw-up private investigators who try to solve the mysterious death of a porn star in the '70s. Gosling throws himself... ‘Dead Ringers’

Prime Video's new thriller Dead Ringers is a brilliantly twisted new take on David Cronenberg's infamous 1980s film of the same name. The limited series stars Oscar-winner Rachel Weisz as twins Elliott and Beverly Mantle, two outrageously talented obstetricians with the shared dream of opening up a birthing center/research lab that could change... ‘The Silence of the Lambs’

Most movies are a one-and-done type of deal. You sit down (probably with a snack), watch their plots unfold and -- about a week later -- forget about them. The Silence of the Lambs, however, is not one of those movies. Released over 30 years ago, Jonathan Demme's psychological thriller is a cinematic triumph that only seems to get better with age....
